The Technics brand is back in business. Panasonic, Technics’ parent company, announced the comeback at IFA 2014, together with two new ranges of premium hi-fi products.
Does Technics brand still exist?
Panasonic discontinued the brand for most products in October 2010, but it was revived in 2015 with new high-end turntables. The brand is best known for the SL-1200 DJ turntable, an industry standard for decades.

Why is Panasonic failing?
In a nutshell their failure was all about lousy marketing, a lack of investment in their brand and boring and predicable PR. We work with Hollywood studio’s,claimed Panasonic, so does LG,Samsung and the Chinese brands who dished out big money to producers and studio’s to plead their case.
Are old Technics speakers any good?
Technics were Panasonic, pretty good speakers in their day. But as with all vintage speakers beware of woofer surround rot. That seems to be a problem with most vintage speakers.
