When did the Parker 51 come out?
1941
The Parker 51 is one of the most popular fountain pens ever made and consequently, much has been written about its history. I won’t rehash it all here. The pen was developed in 1939, the Parker company’s 51st year in business, and went on sale in 1941.
How can you tell Parker 51?
The imprint on the majority of these pens is at the end of the barrel, near the decorative “jewel”, all in one line. They may or may not have a “1” datecode after the imprint. Some collectors speculate that the ones without a datecode are really pre-production models from 1940.
Are Parker pens still good?
Despite the price difference, the quality of Parker products remains true, as you can still expect the same smooth writing and sturdy pen nibs in every Parker pen. These are the simple reasons why Parker pens are often set apart from other pens, and why they’re deemed great pens even across many generations.
Is Parker ink good?
5.0 out of 5 stars A good quality ink but sky-high prices. This ink is really of a very fine quality. The printed price is Rs. 60.
Is the hero 100 fountain pen similar to the Parker 51?
The Hero 100 is remarkably similar to one of the most popular fountain pens of all time, the venerable Parker 51. However, instead of a straight-up copy, they do make some adjustments to the design to give the Hero 100 its own look and feel.
What makes the hero 100 so special?
Made entirely of a brushed steel, the Hero 100 is topped by a faux “jewel” which has been machined into the seamless material of the cap. Hero avoids copying the Parker arrow clip this time, opting instead for a chrome-colored metal clip with a slim, streamlined profile. This hinged clip is both attractive and rather solid.
When it introduced the “51” in 1941, the George S. Parker Company knew it had a winner. The pen was stylish but not flashy, durable but not clunky, and reliable but not overengineered.
