A little-known fact is that KMC offers both reusable and non-reusable quick links for 10 and 11-speed chains.

Are Shimano quick links reusable?
The quick link is designed for use with 11-speed chains and is, according to Shimano, not reusable. Quick links are dead easy to install. Place the quick link into the chain gap, align and snap together – usually done by applying pressure through the cranks.
Are KMC chains directional?
While some bike chains are directional, most aren’t. For instance, Shimano chains tend to be directional while SRAM, KMC, Campagnolo chains are non-directional. Directional components usually have logos facing outwards on one of the side plates.

How do you use a missing link on a chain?
Pull chain from opposite ends to lock. Press both plates together while sliding the chain ends towards each other. Non-reuseable MissingLinks have a latch design, which can only be used once. Re-usable MissingLinks have no latch design, which could be used 3 to 5 times. CL571R applies for: Z92, Z82, Z72, Z51 of KMC chains.
