What is Job Corps and how does it work?
Job Corps is a no-cost education and vocational training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16-24 improve the quality of their lives by empowering them to get great jobs and become independent.
What is Job Corps Good For?
Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program in the country and has been operating for more than 50 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment.

How much money do you get when you leave Job Corps?
The living allowance (i.e., pay) is based on stay duration (e.g., up to 56 days is $25/pay period or two weeks, 57-112 days is $30/pay period, 113-182 is $40/pay period and 183+ days at $50/pay period).
Can you smoke at Job Corps?
No, you can not smoke cigarettes at all. It is a distraction of your training and its a rule that you dont smoke on the jobsite.
What is the success rate of Job Corps?
Eighty-eight percent of all Job Corps graduates are placed in jobs, higher education or the military. Students leave the program with industry-recognized credentials, trained and ready to contribute in high-demand jobs including health care, manufacturing and construction.
Are Job Corps employees federal employees?
(c) Non-resident students are generally considered to be “in performance of duty” as Federal employees when they are engaged in any authorized Job Corps activity, from the time they arrive at any scheduled center activity until they leave the activity.
What can’t you bring to Job Corps?
Job Corps discourages students from bringing expensive personal items such as jewelry, designer clothing or electronics because of the potential for them to be stolen. Smart phones can only be used in designated areas at allowed times. Job Corps rules prohibit weapons, illegal drugs and alcohol on Job Corps campuses.
