No. As indicated in our TJI® joists Specifier’s Guide on pages 6, 10 and 16, TJI® joists are intended for dry-use applications only.

Can TJI joist get wet?
Like all wood materials, I-joists are susceptible to moisture. Avoid unnecessary moisture exposure of all wood components by enclosing the frame against adverse weather as soon as feasible.

Do TJI joists require bridging?
Our code report (ICC ESR-1153) specifically states that bridging is not required for floor and roof TJI joist applications. Weyerhaeuser has found that the addition of bridging does little to improve floor performance and may create squeaks.
How do you stop TJI joists?
To make the blocks, I cut sections of I-joist 1½ inches smaller than the space between the joists, then nail a scrap of ¾-inch subfloor material to each end of the block [1]. This creates two large nailing fins. Calvin Cutts works from a ladder to install the blocks.
