How do I block data overage?
To set a data usage limit:
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Network & internet. Internet.
- Next to your carrier, tap Settings .
- Tap Data warning & limit.
- If it’s not already on, turn on Set data limit. Read the on-screen message and tap Ok.
- Tap Data limit.
- Enter a number.
- Tap Set.
What percentage will Fido alert you when you are almost at your data limit?
Currently, they are respectively 90%, and 100%. These notifications are sent in real time, so be sure to take action when you receive them. Your options are to add more data, to limit your usage, or to keep using.

What is Fido XTRA you ask? It’s simple. As an eligible Fido customer, you now get access to new perks every Thursday, only on the Fido app. Deals on food, apparel, gear, travel or entertainment are added every Thursday, right in the Fido app.

Data Overage Protection lets customers manage their data use and spend automatically by pausing data once they reach their limit. Customers will receive an SMS notification when they reach 90% of their limit and another at 100% when their data is paused.
How do I block data on Fido?
You can use our website, Fido.ca, our App Fido My account, even call the 611 from your phone. If you reach 50$ of overusage, we will block your data and inform you that you’ve reached 50$ of over usage.
How do I get Fido Xtra?
Who gets access to Fido XTRA? Fido Mobile and Internet customers with active accounts in good standing have access to the perks in Fido XTRA. In the case of accounts with multiple eligible lines, each user gets their own access to Fido XTRA through the Fido app.
How do I use Fido Xtra?
To access Fido XTRA, customers just log into the Fido app and click on the Fido XTRA banner. A new exclusive offer will appear every Thursday and customers will also always have access to several other offers throughout the week.
What happens if you go over your data?
If you find that you’ve gone over your allotted data plan, whether you’re using a smartphone or tablet, you can still use data at a reduced speed. But, you won’t be charged for any overages!
