What is G thread?
British parallel threads are often referred to as āGā threads, the two types of thread are the same parallel straight, the threads are measured in threads per inch. Therefore, BSPP is the same as G. BSPP fittings and adapters.
What is G thread size?
BSP ā British Standard Pipe
Table 1: BSPP (G) ā British Standard Pipe Parallel | ||
---|---|---|
Nominal Thread Size | Major Diameter (mm) | Minor Diameter (mm) |
G 3/4 | 26.441 | 24.117 |
G 1 | 33.249 | 30.291 |
G 2 | 59.614 | 56.656 |
What is G1 thread?

G 1″ | 1.309 | 2.309 |
G 1 1/8″ | 1.492 | 2.309 |

G 1 3/8″ | 1.745 | 2.309 |
Are NPT and G threads compatible?
The G (BSP / BSPP) standard is used in Europe and around the world. Although the threads look incredibly similar, they are not compatible. The NPT (US Standard) thread is tapered with a 60 deg thread pitch and designed to seal when the threads compress together, with pipe tape to fill in any minor leak paths.
Is G thread the same as R thread?
BSP distinguishes between two types of threads. These are parallel threads (BSPP), which have a constant diameter, which are known a G threads, and taper threads (BSPT), whose diameter increases or decreases along the length of the thread, known as R threads.
Is G thread same as R thread?
What is a G1 connection?
Inner thread connections are welded to the container with free placement according to your request. This type of connection is very reliable and provides great flexibility to connect different type of accessories while at the same time being able to close with plug later.
What is G1 4a thread?
G1/4 is a straight thread (no tapering). This type does NOT seal in the threads, which is why you ALWAYS see G1/4 barbs with an o-ring. The o-ring provides the seal between the barb and threading. This thread type is easier to use because it provides a much more consistent seal when compared to NPT.
Is NPT the same as BSP?
NPT and BSP threads are not interchangeable due to the differences in thread forms. NPT threads are pointed in the peaks and valleys, where BSPs are rounded. Most notably, the NPT thread angle is 60 degrees versus the BSP 55-degree angle.
Does NPT fit BSP?
NPT/NPS and BSP threads are not compatible due to the differences in their thread forms, and not just the fact that most sizes have a different pitch.
